Is your test lab CPSC-accepted for the rules on your CPC?

Children's product tests must come from a CPSC-accepted third-party lab, accepted for each rule. How to check the lab ID and scope before Amazon does.

The problem

ISO 17025 accreditation alone is not enough for a CPC. The testing behind a children's product certificate must be done by a third-party lab that CPSC has accepted, and that acceptance is per lab location and per rule. A common rejection pattern: the report came from an accredited lab that isn't on the CPSC list, or isn't accepted for one of the rules the CPC cites.

How to fix it

  1. Find the lab name and address on the report.
  2. Search the CPSC lab list (cpsc.gov, "Search for a Laboratory") and note the lab ID for that exact location.
  3. Open the lab's scope and confirm every rule cited on your CPC is listed.
  4. Retest any uncovered rule at an accepted lab; a supplemental report is usually fine.
  5. Record the lab ID on your CPC so the reviewer can verify it quickly.

Check your documents before you resubmit

Upload your CPC or GCC and the test report. The free pre-check compares identifiers, cited rules, lab, dates and certifier across the documents and returns a red/amber/green list of what to fix.
